Diamond Plate

My rear fender has needed attention for quite some time now, so this is what I did:

  • Went to Home Depot and bought a sheet of plastic diamond plate material ($22, pricey but worth it)
  • following a paper template I made, I drilled holes and cut it with tin snips to fit along the rear fender
  • removed the wrapping around the wires so that I could lay the internal 3 wires down really flat along the fender
  • used nylon spacers with the original regulator bolts to help with the curve appearance behind the seat
  • drilled holes and bolted it down under the tail light assembly using the origninal assembly bolts.

Now I can:

  • hide the ugly shape and wires on the rear fender
  • protect the wires from the elements
  • strap down things better to the rear fender for transport
